Grok bots for your calendar

Calendar templates prep meetings, build morning briefs and keep family schedules straight. Reading a calendar is low drama; changing one is visible to everyone you meet with, so this is where a read-only rule pays off.

What Calendar access allows

Checked against xAI's docs

How it connects. Through the Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar app in Connect apps.

It can read

Read risk: Low
  • Read calendars you can see
  • Check free time

It can write

Write risk: Medium
  • Create and update events
  • Respond to invitations on calendars you can edit

A wrong accept, decline or moved meeting lands in other people's calendars. Google Calendar's app can't change Google Meet settings or add a Zoom link, so you may still need to do those by hand.

Set up Calendar safely

  • Tell the Bot it may read your calendar but must propose changes, not make them.
  • Check the Bot's time zone under Settings → Bot → Timezone before scheduling routines around meetings.
  • Remember every Bot on your account can use the connected calendar.

Ask first rules to add before connecting

In Settings → General → Bot → Custom Rules, describe the action and choose Ask first.

Ask first before creating, moving, accepting or declining any calendar event.

Calendar questions

What can Grok Bot do with Google Calendar?

It can read the calendars you can see, check free time, create and update events, and respond to invitations on calendars you can edit. It can't change Google Meet settings or add a Zoom link through Google's add-on. Tell your Bot to propose calendar changes rather than make them.
